Hi All,

I am about to take the plunge and invest in some kite gear. I do Sailboard on the occassional 25 Knot and Surf regularly so my friends (already kiting) believe I will pick this up quite quickly.

I weigh approx 65-68 Kilos and have been told to look at 11m Kite (nothing prior to 2006) for starters....

I have an interest in a 2007 11m F1 Tribal, can anybody give me the scoop on this kite, or can anybody recommend any others good kites?

Also what size board should I be looking at?

Cheers

First of all:
where do you live?
What is the average wind in your area?
and what type of conditions will you be riding in? Flat water? Wave? Chop?

The Tribal is a good kite but so are a lot of the 07 kites. For a begginer a bow or hybrid kite would be best, such as the North Rebel, Slingshot Rev and T2, Cabrinah Xbow and switchblade, Best Waroo, Naish Cult ect, ect. As for the board i think a 130-135cm Twin Tip board would be best. Maybe even a 128. Any board in reasonable condition will do, but try and get a recent model in possible. Most Importantly make sure you get a lesson with an instructor instead of being taught by your friends as there are many things safety wise that you need to be aware of before you start flying your kite.
