Hey guys

just getting into kite surfing this year really, I had a few lessons at the end of last season and can't wait for the sea breeze to start back up. Anyway I am working in a sales job full time at the moment and am bored out of my mind! I am 19 and this job is way to career oriented for me right now. Does anyone know of a place maybe a store where I can get some work in the Kite surfing industry. Wether it be part time casual or full time I know that it would absolutely be a massive improvement of what I am doing now.

Cheers

Can i join you in this quest for a better job? i am in a similar boat. I'm stuck in sales and i hate it. Actually.. i'm not even really in sales.. i work in a photolab in a "digital lifestyle" store, only people dont know that the photo lab exists, so i surf the net all day and get bored.

Yeh that's what I do all day, only now "the man" is trying to stop us surfing the net during work! which means no sea breeze or you tube what the hell am I going to do!

Maybe we should open our own store...With your digital life experience and my wicked awesome sales skills we will be unstoppable!

I wasn't refering to politics or egos. Just that I work in kiting all day, when I leav the shop and go kiting it's all questions on tricks or gear etc. Then when you catch up with friends they want to no all about it or know someone that wants to get into it. It feels like a never ending day at work 24/7. The only thing that keeps me going is the fact all the people are very cool and alot of fun to hang out with..
It's just very hard to get away from when you need to..

i hear you dave, infact when i worked in a kiting store all day, 5 days a week the last thing i wanted to do was go kiting, it made me hate the sport, all i felt like doing was hitting the skatepark where there was no one to annoy me with mostly stupid and quite obvious questions. oh and you never want to fix your gear, you always have the worst stuff because after doing it all day for other people the last thing you want to do is fix your own.

Sorry dudes, my reply probably sounded sarcastic so I deleted it.

I was agreeing with you. By the time you get through the day talking kiting, selling kiting and teaching kiting, sometimes its hard to wanna go kiting.

I quit rugby coaching for the same reason. When you submerse yourself in a sport 24/7 sometimes your love for it starts to fade.

Hmm.. maybe the same thing works with photography and that's why i've lost my desire to take pretty pictures.. Either that or my job completely sucks. I'd immerse myself in hanggliding and become an instructor if it wasnt for the whole nobody-wants-to-learn-to-fly-in-wa thing..

I'd love to do a deal but we're in the hanggliding microlighting game and i'm just a mere pilot. help out a bunch but i dont teach. the instructor in WA is Jiri, but he's not very good.

INfiniDIe, nobody wants to know where Wyalkatchem is. it's a hole with a pub and a swimming pool. But yeah.. light flight do microlighting too.. an awful lot more pricey though, and not nearly as fun. i'd much prefer to spend $5000 on a glider than $50 000 on a trike. stupid noisy engined things.. Although i'd suggest getting a wriggle on with the course because the school is about to either move to QLD or close.

eh

I got tonnes of mates in the West End (past the gap) of Brisbane. so QLD wouldnt be that bad, but eeek if it closes...maybe kiting could fill the space? plus i have my motorcycle licence now, i think my bod has enough adrenaline rushing thru it now.

thx anyways tina.
