Very Interesting! but looks like "full pack down rescues" will become a thing of the past

Where does "full pack down rescues" come from, not sure what you mean.

As a design feature - maybe it should come with 2 half bladders. This way the kite wont sink if you have a bladder blow-out.

Detailed explanation and video of both, basically deflate LE, roll kite up with struts inflated.

Very interesting read, thanks for that. Simply put Low end seems the go with this kite. High end not so.

After long research about this option in a previous thread, the only issue I would have with having a 17 Cloud for low end riding would be the long term issue of sail stretch as someone pointed out... Hard to imagine in the long run that it would not degrade and also the fact that it sold out now and the impossibility to get a wind range indication which pissed me off a bit... and this is why I did not buy one despite it being only a 1000$

From the reviews, it sounds like you can work it OK to extend the bottom end and at the top end instead of sheeting out you are better to edge harder while you can.

This rolling up the leading edge looks like it would be fairly easy to do on the water and the kite ends up quite small.
Might make it easy enough to lie on the kite on a big board like a Sector 60 and paddle it in.
Think I might prefer to have a sandbag straddling the LE if it turned out that the kite moved around when leashed to the sandbag.

Saw one the other day at Brighton kite beach. The guy kiting on it look pretty powered up and was doing some jumps (nothing spectacular). The kite look well behaved but did have quite a bit of flutter when turning.

I had a quick chat with the guy when he came in and he said he quite liked it. In fact he said he preferred it over his normal "struted" kite.

I think I'll stick to standard but I wouldn't mind having a go one day to compare.

Does anyone know if it could be used with an ozone bar and lines?

yup it would just verify your lines length but they should be equal when fully powered.

Interesting they certainly look the part,
I like its quick looping action I think that's pretty cool, I looked at it in more detail, they had some pretty cool footage of it in action.

The fluttering worries me, that's a big no no for what I look for in a kite especially at the top end. But that's just me.

Ditto.

It also worries me that my kite might look like this after it hits the water, especially in lighter winds, and stay like that:

Call me old fashioned but I'll stick with struts, I'd hate to be stuck 1.5km out in open ocean with a burst bladder with that no thanks

Also, I reckon the canopy is susceptible to rips and tears when self launching/landing, or just lying on the beach. At least struts keep the main canopy off the sand.

the kite would go great with helmet, sunnies, impact vest, gloves, booties, board leash, gps and gopro

Not if the go pro is supposed to be attached to the middle strut on the kite

I can't see the safety conscious type who wear life jackets, helmet, sunnies, booties etc going for a harder to launch, single bladder option..

I was thinking more along the lines of "all the gear - no idea"

The reviews all say it is just as easy to launch/land as any other kite. There is some suggestion that it is easier than a strutted kite because the wind gets under the sail and lifts it.

The only negatives addressed in the reviews are the leech flutter and the need to sand it down well to stop it blowing away.

None of the reviews have mentioned the wear and tear issues of the canopy sitting on the sand. I love that my kites sit on the beach without sanding and the canopy never touches the sand.

Concerns:
- how does it fly upside down when you are carrying it to and from the setup area? (The tuning video shows it sort of flying, sort of dragging.)
- how well does it stay parked after self landing given that it can blow away if not attached to a sand bag?
- I don't want to cart a sand bag to the beach. I hate it when people leave the beach littered with kite bags. Are we going to have to put up with sand bags as well?

Looks ok but I'm also thinking super cold wind = more push.

Most of those concerns mentioned don't bother me as you can adjust launching techniques etc etc...

the flutter you cannot, except with careful trimming...and to that I say farq that, don't want to be concentrating on that crap when kiting lit.

But I do think this kite may have a place in the low wind end spectrum part of the world for sure.
