A message to the 4 kitesurfers at the Spot this morning. I rolled up about 10.45am to see 1 green airush, 1 yellow/brown 15m fuel, 1 pink/white Best Yarga Pro, and a yellow/white airush lift caneing the waves just to the right of the keyhole & to the right of the carpark where the lids generally surf. No lids there which was OK.
All was fine and dandy.

Then the Green Airush, Fuel and the Best decided it a good idea to go hassel the surfers at the spot for waves, whom mind you, were in the water long before the kiters got there and proceded to cut through the lineup putting in danger two grommet beginners who are sons of locals and who are NOT IMPRESSED.

I,ve got a whole load of pics of these kiters.
I am a surfer and a kiter. I surf the spot regularly and I kite up here too but not near the surfers area unless it is blown out and no surfers are in the water. A matter of common sense, courteousy and respect for both sports really!!. There are a lot of places to kite here that are fun and do not involve annoying the local surfers . One of the local surfers had a chat with a couple of the kiters and was hit with the crass attitude of I can kite wherever I like. This kind of dailog and attitude from a minority is what creates bad blood and tension for kiters both in the eyes of the public and other coast users. By and large kiters have good common sense, awareness and respect for others due to the extreme nature of the sport but we don,t want to start having launching closures forced on us as has happened in a lot of the UK, Spain, France and the USA because of an unwillingness to show a bit of courtesy, consideration and respect for others. To the kiters at the spot today I say this.
The kiting community is a tight nit community and word travels quickly. People from beaches, shops, forums, know of you and it only takes a few pics to expose you and your antics to others. This is not a threat of any sort but a little wakeup call because in being ( for want of a better word ) Silly you jeopardise the kiting fun for the whole kiting community and if that means launch closures, prohibitions and such like then you have to answer to the kiting community at large,

Get My Drift?
