great time of year to go, loads of southerly swell. Mind u Hawaii is getting competitive with the south pacific right now for the first time in years, I seen some crazy south pacific flight prices compared to last few years but still good offers around..

If you got the $$$ stay on the remote islands and get a boat out to surf (quite expensive) or stay on mainland with access to kiting and surf. Fiji is a great place for surfing and kiting.

Mate, do a search as this topic has been well talked about.

Personally, you cannot beat Namotu. It has it all. Is not cheap but is worth the price if the funds are good. At the end of the day better than coming out on the daily boat.

But if budget is your concern, then there are options in Nadi (daily boat) and the coral coast.

North side of Viti Levu has great flat water conditions if thats your scene.

There are several companies that run tours if you need you hand held.

Great time of the year. You will need all sizes as it can pump and dribble at any time.

Just got back from Fiji yesterday and had 1 day of wind and kited Wilkes in an offshore breeze, was fantastic, nothing like kiting glassy waves. Would have loved to kite Namotu but the wind wasn't favourable. But I had 4 of the best surfs of my life at Namotu lefts. Stayed at Plantation Island Resort as I had the wife and kids. Def would NOT recommend that resort. Very tired and the food was terrible, also full of feral families! Lomani is next door so ate there most nights. Stay Namotu or Tavarua or Lomani.

For those tempted by the reports of kiting near Sigatoka from the outrigger resort I'd suggest caution. There's a pretty small window when you won't be exposed to coral outcrops. The locals suggested a couple of spots further east which by looking at a map seems to be Sovi bay or thereabouts. No wind for me :( too early in the season

Just returned from Fiji myself.....

As it was a honeymoon I had to limit the amount of toys I took (minds out of the gutter please )
Based on the forecast I opted to leave the kite gear at home and just take my surfboards instead ...... In typical fashion there ended up being about 8 kitatable days out of the 14 I was there.... murphys law.

I did however manage to get about half a dozen early morning surfs in out at Frigates every one bar 2 sessions I was the only one out there ( in the other 2 there were two other blokes ) had more waves in a morning than a month at home..... trade off being .... on your own out there you feel like fish foood its quite nerve wracking.
