Kite boarder killed by sharks: reports

A man has died after being encircled and attacked by a number of sharks while kite boarding off a beach in the US state of Florida, local media reports.

The incident occurred in an unguarded section of water off Stuart Beach, about 160 kilometres north of Miami.

A lifeguard came to the rescue of the stricken man who had sustained several shark bites, WPTV reported.

The lifeguard performed CPR on the beach before the victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.

WPTV says thousands of sharks have been spotted off shore because of migration and that several local beaches have closed due to shark sightings in recent months.

Agree. Best not to think about it.

I saw the article in the paper while the GF was next to me so I quickly kept turning before she saw it. Best she doesn't know these things!
