I'm planning on going up north for riding in the Uni break (next week). We are thinkig about stopping in Gnaraloo for a couple of days to check out the waves. Is there any other good spots in that area that can offer good riding? I'm keen to find a flat water spot up there. Is there anything around Monkey Mia?

Carnarvon is a sick flatwater kite site and of course the last pit-stop before Gnaraloo. I won't say exactly where the spot is ????
Let's just say that you need to head for the long jetty.
You can drive on the beach to rig up, the fishing is good here too and you can also pick oysters off the rocks. If you get bored with the flatwater, you just walk thru the narrow dunes flying the kite high and then you can sail the wind swells on the oceanside.
FOOTNOTE:
Another spot is at the mouth of the Gascoigne River. The set-up looks hot for kiting and it's my guess that no-one has ever kitesurfed it.
Last frontier stuff!
