Was thinking of heading to SA to see some relies and do a little kitesurfing. I have heard on the grapevine that you need a licence to kite down there.

Do I need to buy a licence just to kite for a couple of days or will the AKSA cover it.

AKSA membership will cover it. It's only the public liability side of things, it's not a separate licence to speak of.
