At Currimundi, a direct onshore wind is an easterly and, with only a short distance between the water and the tree line, it's foolish to try to kite there. Any mistake can be lethal for you or a bystander.
You would have been told this by your instructor.
Yes, I realise there is a danger having any obstacle/person nearby and downwind of you when kiting (mentioned in my lessons), but surely a SE'er and/or NE'er also contains an element of danger if the person/obstacle is, again, nearby and downwind? Just slightly less I suppose, because of the crossshore nature of the wind?
I just don't see how ... "kitesurfing in direct onshore (easterly) conditions on crowded beaches is dangerous and irresponsible", when the same could be said for anything with east in it?!
I suppose the main thing is to, as you stated, "get your 'danger zone' away from potential hazards such as other beach users".
