the best thing is, if you don't bring your gear there will be epic winter perfect windy days with clean swell. if you do bring your gear, then it will be calm offshore with no surf at all.
If you are coming up to the goldie def bring your gear that time of year. Currumbin to byron has got some great spots, and you are more then welcome to come get a wave or 2 with the 23rd palm beach crew. If you plan on kiting at narrowneck i hope your a Seqka member LOL, as they have got a a - frame now with rules and regs LOL.
All pretty relaxed down the southern end of the goldie, so you will love it.
If your staying down southern end, go in and visit Roar Industries the local kite Shop at currumbin and they will help you out with where to kite etc..
if there's no wind, you will def have some nice waves to surf down the southern end and northern nsw.
