Got a guy over from Cape Town with only a few days in Perth, as luck would have it the seabreeze has evaporated.

Tomorrow should be OK in the morning if a NWester though, where to go... Pinaroo point the dog beach side? Woodies is a bit far, could go there I suppose. If a westerlie, how does Melville go? Any other advice?

Ta :)

I forgot about Woodies, I've never kited there and was hoping for something closer.

Think that will be the go for this afternoon, have to empty my truck of **** and leave the glove compartment open & empty by all accounts...

Yep, sloppy grey ocean with no swell, 25 knots for ten minutes then back to 8 knots - and people keep telling me winter's good.

Might be an acquired taste.

Would love someone to explain winter winds - does the brief period of more intense wind come after the rain squall or before it ? or just whenever it pleases?

Not yet, but the rocket clock just hit five bells and looking at the pointy things I reckon I might just be able to go grab a quickie now now.

I love kiting in winter. But yes, alot of it is a waiting game. Watching and waiting for things to change. But when it does kick in it`s usually a whole new experience.
A word of advice, do not venture too far out. Things can change in a matter of seconds, not good when you`re a few hundred metres out and the kite drops out of the sky with no wind at all. One good thing about winter is you can get some good early morning sessions, wich you seldom get in summer.

Macca and I had an excellent 90min sesh at 5pm, cranking WSW and plenty of waves to play on.

Yep thanks Tightlines, I thought I'd pretty much nailed it. Pump up the kite in screaming winds - walk down to the sand and start running out my lines while it's nuking - launch kite and watch it fall out of the sky when I'm about 100 m off shore
