Hi everyone, especially inexperienced riders.

The winds today are extremely unpredictable and gusty, and are very onshore. The wind has caused a surge washing away beach and the surf is big and closing out.

Do not self launch or land today, be careful boosting close to the beach and allow yourself a healthy margin for mistakes and natural variables.

Think before you go out today, it is an experienced rider day today!

Safe riding to all,

DM

Helped a couple inexperianced kiters on 10-12m kites to keep them from getting pounded. Seriously guys, you need to keep an eye on the sky from now on with winter soon to set in. If you see a gnarly squall coming in, get to the beach in a hurry. And if you see a guy on the beach trying frantically to wave you in, maybe get in fast. Or better yet, don't go out with a 12m in between squalls!

It was fun out there today though!

Saw a guy rescued by a boat some distance east (downwind) of Pelican Pt. Couldn't see much else from the city. Looked like the kite was looping. Congrats to the people in the boat.

was at brighton from 4-6.30 this arvo.
was a tough job getting out past the waves when the wind is almost straight onshore as it was on a surfboard strapless. kite dropped in the waves a few times, lucky it always rolled without flipping itself over.

cant complain though, at least there is wind!!

good taste of cold front riding. Been too long
Love winter conditions, just you and ocean.
Remember this is when people used to die,
so accept the risk, or dont go out

It was fun!
Took some good beatings when the wind puffed out seconds before charging up the face of a few "im going to eat you" sized shoreys!

Agreed. Was insane. Further south, along deserted beach with my kiting buddy (my bro). We are experienced riders, and still thought long and hard about kite size, launch tactics and exit strategies - before hitting it!.

Was fine until one of those crazy quick fronts hits - stinging rain in the eyes, using all our body weight to hold it down (wasn't crazy black and thin on the horizon).

Message to all, even this greyish, thin line, was nearly too much. Really, really watch the skies and if you are 3rd way to your kite size limit and it gets real dark, get the farq out the water and quick.

Was insane, had a ball - mad nutter stuff!!
