Is anyone kiting today? (10/09)

Would Woodmans Point be a good spot? If not, where?

In desperate need to get on water, Octane.

Hey Oct, I got out today and caught a marginal hour at Pt. Walter (that's were you get Easterlies). But mate, it can be very dangerous to yourself and others there. You need to be experienced and know the spot (ask other kiters) especially where all the dangers are...and there are many.

Other people, rocks, strong gusts, variable onshore AND offshore conditions....aside from that it is magnificent!

My kite this am was not all that great, but boy was it beautiful...too cold for anyone to be out except for walkers and kayakers...

In my eagerness I stumbled in the rocks....and boy does it hurt....lucky I had my booties, but my ribs are killing me.

THOSE FN RAZOR ROCKS

Looks like a mirror image of Wello Psylor! I hate to say that it looks a lot nicer over in WA though, and they have cleaner sand and a longer nice sand bar - Pslor - do u kite Wello much, or is that only when you can drag yourself away from the perfect coast ?

Yeah im a coast local, ive been at wello 2 times, its pretty much gotta be a straight westerly or WSW for me to warrant driving up to wello. When its is either of these directions im far more likly to take a boat to jumpinpin as its the same hassle, but the kiting at the pin is much much much more rewarding. Though i think i will venture up one day at high tide in a NE and see what its like. NE is a good direction for wello isn't it?
PS. i've never ever worn booties, last time i went to wello it was solid 25kn gusting to 35+knots Westerly and low tide, i landed on the rocks, nice, my feet took a while to recover, not the best session ive had.

Mate, your lucky your so close to where you kite - I'd rather live at the Coast or even 5-15min from Wello would be great... You guys are always saying how great the pin is! I mean how can you beat rocks, a terrible tide, wrong wind direction, too shallow and too deep water, and fines if you set up in teh wrong place? ... I'll have to venture to the coast in the near future.

Yep. NE is great, and it's most of the guys preference because they can go out the Manly side in deep water. Heck, your lucky with not having to wear booties! Most of us (apart frm the odd guy) wear them, and have to! Ouch, I hate to even imagine what that would have done to your feet... would have killed, but I have to admit landing bottom first on them feels quite similar

Narrowneck was fun from around midday when it went NNE. About a dozen kiters on the water max, 15 to 20 knots and fun 2 to 3 foot waves.

Now its time for a few beers a good feed.

Yes, you should venture down to either Loders Creek, Southport(Len Fox Park) or Shearwater park Runaway Bay, they are the 2 main flatwater spots for the Northern end of the Coast. Currumbin Alley for the Southern End. Or you have the option of surf anywhere along the coastline. Come down one weekend and meet the infamous Paulio if you are nice to him he will be your friend.

Gruezi, well that was an assumption. Whilst I am not an experienced rider I am not a beginner, I have actually kited at Walters before and yep, found those damn rocks all by myself, I actually totally forgot that Walters was there, damn, could've gone out today. Thanks anyway mate for the image, that Google Earth is great.

Cheers, Octane

Top pic Gruezi - fantastic - well done.
Sums it really well for any newcomers.
Those Wally Rocks are THE worst

But you forgot to put in the major Pt. Walter hazard warning.
Where's the pin for 'pensioners on kites'

When you look at that location without your markers you can actually see kiters
