hi, i dont think you can hire... not even a kite shop in town..

The winds are light (except in front of a storm) Its good for most wind directions as you can go at town beach which faces east, or cable beach facing west. Check the forecast for when your going you might get lucky. And stinger season is over now, no need to worry about stingers but there is still the possibility

Just check the forecast before you go, had a great downwinder in a NW'ter Cable Beach-Gantheume(sp?) point, also good roebuck bay in an Easterly.
Have fun...

^^Um check google maps^^ - Broome is on a penninsula, town beach faces east over Roebuck bay, Cable beach faces west over the ocean. Not sure how long since a croc has been seen at town beach but does happen every now and again

Hey Rosey,

l've lived in broome for the last year and at the moment winds are crap and won't really be any good til early October. As for town beach a 3m croc has been wondering around there for the last couple of months so l wouldn't be kiting there at the moment. Town beach is also a fairly hazardous beach to kite (rock seawall on one side, tall mangroves on the other and a very narrow beach in between). There is no kite shop/hire here so own gear is needed. If your coming up soon e-mail me and l'll be happy to show you round.

Town beach is not really a good spot, at low tide (and they get some, Broome makes our 9m tides in Darwin nothing, they get 12m tides, yikes!!) you have f@#king rocks everywhere with thick black mud, that sticks to everything. Not for the faint hearted, you really need a local to show you the where and where nots. And, with the sou'easters this time of year, a west facing beach means the wind is off-shore at Cable beach. I tried and even though there might be some strong winds, it can't be used properly. Mind you, I got lucky once and got a seabreeze, light but sailable (just).

Anyway, there could be worse places to go...

cheers,

Robert.

ps watch out for the dirty old naked men on cable beach, not pretty
