phuket is supposed to work november through january, theres a website, google knows it

i think they run out of rawai beach on the south east corner, its a bit of a hike out there, i think they might have a shop on one of the big tourist beaches in the south west corner (sorry forget the name)

i think the koh samui place runs during that time but not too sure about that

if ur lugging gear, take the 20m ;)

Check out www.windguru.com for conditions & history

Hey CTD,

If you go to Koh Samui or Hua Hin, then you will find the wind is ON! Stronger in Koh Samui also extraordinary night life and other stuff to do as well. You can contact the guys from Kiteboarding asia and they will give you the full rundown.

They have kites for sale and maybe some to hire also. Pumping up is usually by compressor on the beach and the kiting conditions are good. The boys are way friendly and very chilled so give em a call on [email protected] or [email protected] and tell them I said Hi!

Hope this helps

Hi CrashTestDummy ...

I live in Samui ... been plenty of wind this month ... guys have been going out on the NW coast at a place called Lipa Noi ... best time however, is Nov till Mar on the SSE coast... for a full run down on what's what go to www.kiteboardingasia.com ... all the info you need is there.

You can hire gear for sure from the kiteboardingasia boys - they have a great set-up near to Samui Orchid Resort (Tiger zoo & Aquarium on the way to the butterfly garden) BUT, as everywhere, prices are expensive to hire !

Hua Hin is also good I've been told , but haven't been there yet...

cheers,

Jan ...

Xmas is the best time for winds here ... expect anything from 12~20kts ... might get over 20kts some days ... so yes, your bigger range of kites would be best ... I think the kiteboardingasia guys are trying to set-up in Phuket as well ... 'Mica' one of their instructors just went over to set-it-up ...

From Phuket to Samui by bus is ok - it'll take the best part of a day though... Bangkok airways fly daily and it's pretty cheap (approx. $75) and only takes about 30~40mins ... check www.bangkokairways.com for full details...

RayQ ... not sure if there are any kiteboard shops in Bangers as yet - doubt it ... Hua Hin about 2 hrs from Bkk is serviced also by the kiteboardingasia guys...
