Just started kiting. Does anyone kite in easterly winds in Perth and if so, where?

Pt Walter on the sand spit in the morning is a popular option.

Which isn't really dangerous in the River. But I suspect you don't like really long walks with all your gear!!

Point Water Sand Bar but as James said .. watch out for the sharp rocks. They are just north of the sandbar.. I have been kiting there for years and I copped them a couple of weeks ago.. they are often just submerged and they are sharp as.. make sure u ask a local where they are and keep well away... If you just started kiting better to go to Point Walter dog beach . generally not as crowded .. have a good 1 !

I know 12 people who have ended up in ICU from kiting point walter.
The rocks are covered in oysters and run the whole length of the point.
Car break ins are getting completely out of control.
I saw 5 murders down there the other morning.

Lots of rocks to the left and right of the start of the sandbar, more to the north around the jetty. Be vigilent.

Be carefull when launching in gusty easterlys. Seen this bloke dislocate his shoulder the other week, the sand at low tide is very firm.

F@#$ that. I'm not getting chopped up on river rocks. I'll wait for an onshore and go in the ocean. I'm a newbie but I'm going OK. Can get upwind no trouble. I was actually hoping to find somewhere for my girlfriend to go and practice flying/body dragging etc over the weekend. I had seen crew out at Point Walter.

Appreciate all the input.

if you are a newbie then go 1km east from point walter to the dogbeach , shallow water, no rocks

i actually have NFI . Maybe the show poines can show off their tricks closer to the general public

The rocks aren't that bad. I've kited there a few times. Once you know where they are it's easy to avoid them.

Maybe not the best body dragging spot though.

When the winds are good you can kite loop over the sand bar.

risky, but gets the adrenalin pumping.

Dusta wouldnt know anything about boosting tho, too much time racing on his fridge door!

No rocks towards the end of the sand bar. Its not a bad spot to learn, that being said Dog Beach is fine too.

Super low tide this day.

On a normal tide these rocks are all well underwater.

Attadale foreshore (dog beach I guess) in a ENE...there will be plenty of others just learning there....spit fun for speed and dingle dangle.

Easterly patterns: they start of ESE, then go E and finally ENE. Knowing that you can figure out where it will be best on the river, cheers and get out there.....but watch the razor rocks.

14 people cut themselves requiring stitches at point walter today.
Another 25 bought band aids from the bicton pharmacy.
I wouldn't recommend kiting on the river ever again.

First kite at Point Walter this morning. Great spot even if it was 6am on a Sunday and managed to come away without the need for a trip to ICU, sutures or a bandaid.

I was kiting there from 5.30 till 8. Had the southern side of the spit to myself for a while before the "elite" lads and chicks rocked up.

So good to watch people who are so talented. I was hoping to see Yuri but that didn't eventuate.

I stopped on the sandbar and counted 69 kites in the air! That included looking towards dog beach.
