Last winter me and some mates scored a great day to ourselves surfing Stark reef at Rotto.
However the majority of waves on that day were too flat to paddle in to, before jacking up too steep (I think the tide was too high) and Ive been thinkin for ages that it would be great to have a crack at it on a kite.
It was blowin southerly a fair bit that day (Offshore for Stark.) Definately enough to kite in. And seeing as we are there on a boat, the risk of shi..t goin wrong and being lost at sea is small.
I was just wondering if anyone with the years of experience under their belt has kited there before. It looks like such a sweet spot (under certain conditions) and there isn't the risk of pissin off surfers coz there arent many around due to the fact that most waves can't be paddled in to (in said conditions).
I'm very keen to have a crack this winter and would love to hear from anyone who has done it before or (if no one) would like to join me.
