At Kurnell yesterday (Sunday, beautiful Noreaster, warm day, whitecaps ever near us so we can help if you get into trouble. Kurnell is not a great place to learn but some have done it. Just ask Mick why the one groyne is known as "Mick's Groin".
Thanks

Guys - just a plea to play fair.
At Kurnell yesterday (Sunday, beautiful Noreaster, warm day, whitecaps everywhere - oops! I digress in my brackets) there were about 30 of us spread out all over and about 5 poleboarders in their groyne.
Kurnell was peaceful and it was good!...until we sent 3 kiters to learn in the windsurfer groyne. Drag about, prevent the inside poley gybes, flail your kite about - these were their instructions and they did us proud. Not only this but we also must have suggested they learn in the groyne where the power lines are closest????
Generally to the best of my knowledge there have not been any incidents between us and poleys at Kurnell. I don't think we play fair if we disturb their groyne and their very predictable reach in and out and in and out and in and out (get the drift).
So - to you experienced guys - play fair! To you learners - rather play near us so we can help if you get into trouble. Kurnell is not a great place to learn but some have done it. Just ask Mick why the one groyne is known as "Mick's Groin".
Thanks
Anthony

WHy is this such a big deal. I was one of those kiteboarders, I have never kited in that bay before because of the power lines but have seen others kite there before.
I launched my kite there because i don't feel like kiting with the other 30 kiters and i can set up my gear next to my car, and a safe distance from the powerlines. I used to sailboard once upon a time and have no idea why sailboarders need there own bay (old fart syndrome). If they don't like crowds get out of sydney, It is the most populated city in Australia. I don't like crowds (i realise its inevitable), theres no clubbies with flags up saying sailboarders only and quite a few of the sailboarders spoke to me and said nothing. Why didn't you speak to me!!
I mean sailboarders can go in any bay. If a kite falls out of the sky and a sailboarder has to turn then big deal its better then having a beginer amongst 30 kiters.
Anyway we should all fly together and be happy
Why don't we realise that it dosen't matter what sport you do we are just there to use the wind and have fun.

I don't like cricket games next me while picknicking and i don't like kiteboarders who kite next to me when they could've gone down te beach. Thats what i did (went down the beach).
I also find that sailboarders are far more predictable then kiters ie. they go back and forth sometimes jumping 1 foot in the air (wow). Kiters are always jumping doing transitions, crashing kites etc. This makes them far more unpredictable.
Lets not make this a safety issue because safety and kurnell shouldn't be in one blog. There are powerline very close to where others kite as well!
Lets be honest sailboarder are like longboarders, they hate us, we hate them but they can't stop me from kiting in the death groin(playing with micks groin) so I'll do it.[}:)]
