up in lancelin for long w/e
in the house staying in april edition of coastal news - local rag for gingin area
only two letters to the editor
both complaining of kiters flying around children and bathers just south of eddies, one child was splashed in te face and quite upset
both writers very reasonable in their approach, not questioning that one can kite
but the safety of the situation
shows what can go on "behind the scenes", next thing the council bans kiting in gingin shire, thats food for thought

Prime example of why I have stated in the past that kitesurfing has no cred.

Oh dear, Lancelin in the spotlight...
A sizeable group of Lancelin business owners, WAKSA, and the Gingin council are already working on keeping Lancelin a safe place for both kiters, windsurfers, and visitors. Signs are up at the beach and guidelines are up at many of the accommodations educating locals and visitors alike to what's acceptable practice on the beach and water there.
I'm sure local West Aussies aren't entirely without blame yet I am under the impression (from personal experience and other feedback) that the main problem is caused by foreign visitors unaware of our guidelines, used to kiting in cramped conditions etc.
I'm sure WAKSA and the Lancelin business' will be in touch with Gingin council to clear this last incident up?

no intended as a blame, finger pointing exercise
just an example of what may occur unbeknown to the average kiter suddenly faced with a ban or restriction that appears unjustified
a good example of what upsets joe public, and hence what to avoid doing
a good dose of commonsense required, even the i was there first arguement does hold up
