nobile 666 EXT is very effective and is the light wind model of the range and refuses to sink or bog down unless your going less than 2-3 kts

I can get going on my Underground 152 in about 8-10 knots with my Psycho 13m with no one else able to stay upwind. It's a great board and doesn't start to get "too big" until about 12 knots. Mine's the 2006 double concave version.

For ultimate light wind, the Airush Protoy Exile is the definative answer.

Good winds,

Tried plywood? Certainly the cheapest, and pretty much as good if you do a nice job.
I think the Spleene boards, the Door or Session, are still the top of the heap, but good luck getting one in Oz.

Just had a custom light wind board made by Cardboards. It ended up being 146 x 45cm but you can have any size, flex, rocker etc you want. Im 83kg. I tried a whole heap of other light wind boards out first but this one turned out to be the best by far. I rang them and got a whole heap of advice re what was best for my requirements. They were super friendly and helpful to deal with. It was delivered to my doorstep in about a week. Got to choose my own graphics and colours etc and the board looks awesome !!! Have only ridden it about 3 times now and absolutely love it. It only ended up costing $850. The quality looks spot on and apparently they are really good for warranty etc. I liked the idea of supporting and Aussie made product as well. I live in Sydney. If your in the area, you're welcome to try it out.

PS: I'm not a pimp, I paid full price and it's my first Cardboard... I'm just really stoked with it.

No extra for a custom cardboard rrp $850
I have tried many prototype lightwind boards from them and the one
we have settled on is great. Early planing and rides well in chop and if the wind picks. Nice and light for the size, and importantly they don't need to go to the extra weight of a wood core to get the board strength as they have it sussed out perfectly. Ring Dan at the factory and he will go through all the pro's and cons.
I would go for a 136x45ish, single concave wide stance, soft flex option!
Ask him for the 'special' set up re rocker and outline

I've got a underground 148 x 46. Works great in the light stuff. Due to being super flat it gets to be a handful in the chop though.

i'm 87 kgs on the SB2 '07 16 m and i find that the 5'11" north rocketfish is great for light wind with the wind 14+knots , or downwind ,only, when lighter.

i looked at a dedicated light wind board, but found the surf board fulfilled 2 roles- light wind and waves.

to go even lighter winds- the spleene door , like tobes said, and with a speed 17 flysurfer. ($$$$ though)

I've been riding a 666 EXT - 143x48.

I'm 105kg and fly a '07 13m Waroo. I was riding today in around 11-12 knot powered. Good board. Got drawbacks though as any huge board would.

1. Its heavy (as you would expect)
2. Its a bit hard to land. I have only been out on it a few times so i think i need to get used to it.
3. edging is tough when going quick, i find i need to be more gentle than with my 666 132x41. More like coaxing it upwind than digging the edge in.
4. After a long ride, my legs are burning. Its a bloody good workout.
5. Its expensive.

Overall I'm happy with it, i would never get riding in those kind of wind speeds without it.
