Hey Kitch

I presume that you are learning - if not, it's probably not worth the hike up there because as LEWISS says it can get quite gusty. Saying that though, I had a session up at Boreen Point when I was learning. The wind was a bit light but I learned heaps though.

Go up to Boreen Pt in a NE or E wind. There is a beach there next to the caravan park. Walk down the beach past the yachts and people. Make sure you have someone with you who knows what they are doing.

If you are up and riding already, you're better off going to one of the river mouths in these conditions.

Went to the lake for a kite one time and there was absolutely no wind!!!!uggghh. So we did a 'u'ey and headed to Noosa river mouth just ot see what was there and ended up kiting in a very nice 17-18k.
ie. the lake sucks -

You're right LEWISS - gusty is never good, I have only been there once and it wasn't really gusty at all - but due to being inland it will be gusty there a lot of the time. My thoughts is that it's a long way to drive just to see if its gusty or not or if the winds blowing or not. The wind can be totally different there compared to say Noosa Rivermouth.

Lakes suck!!!!!!! couldnt think of a worse place to try kiting, gusty wind, brown murky water with hungry bull sharks, trees too willing to help land your kite, ironic that you should only go there if learning dont you think.

nah i live there. go to the local shop next to the sailing club!!! there is a dude there called ray tell him i sent u to get ice. he will prob look at you for a bit then tell you "no ice today....bloddy brisbannites took it" in a real slow voice. after that you can session our sliders/kickers.

I learnt there and have had a few good sessions, true the wind is up and down a bit though when coming from the SE not too bad. I thought the sliders were gone.

I was wakeboarding there once last year and we saw a bull shark cruising around near the middle - another crappy thing is the shallow water gets really hot in summer.
