But leave packs alone, then we don't piss them off, and they don't us, harmony

Stats - look at sharks verses bees, hippos, trees, coconuts etc, now are you scared of coconuts too?

only eva seen a couple in the lake at once but i think us humans are pretty safe. hammerheads only hav a very little mouth anyway and i think that they would be more scared than us.

My info is from the documentary film "Sharkwater" (highly recommended). According to this film as I can remember there is no evidence whatsoever, that hammerheads have ever attacked humans. In fact they are very shy creatures, so we know very little about them.
This scare campaign is great for the multibillion dollar businesses on shark fins, which in the process of making the big bucks also make sharks extinct.....just another dark age.

According to the international shark files, an institute responsible for keeping stats relating to sharks and shark attacks, the hammerhead is ranked 6th on the list of most dangerous sharks.

"Hammerheads are considered potentially dangerous sharks. According to the International Shark Attack File, there have been 21 unprovoked attacks with 2 resulting in fatalities for all species of the genus Sphyrna. However, few if any attacks can be directly linked with this species due to the difficulty distinguishing species of hammerheads involved in attacks. Due to its large size and variety of prey, this shark should be treated with respect and caution."

Just down the road at Nth Entrance in peak season you see at least one HH almost every session , Big and small. Noone has been nibbled on though in 25 years of windsurfing/kitesurfing, the BIGGEST sharks ive ever seen were hammers and they were BIG , While sailing close to the shore at Stockton beach

Statistically you have more chance of being killed by a vending machine falling on you than by shark attack. Give you one guess what country is responsible for the large number of vending maching deaths.

Stocko is my local kite spot, see a shark nearly every session also.
Mainly just smallish stuff tho.

the most dangerous of hammerheads is the greater hammerhead which is extreamly dangerous .it lives in open water in the tropics

I was out at Diamond Head on Oahu in the late 80's and looked down and saw a hammerhead underneath me at least twice as long as my board - came in straight afterwards and was talking to some locals who said that 'hammer' was well known at Diamond Head and had never caused any harm.

Go and see the movie 'Sharkwater' - highly recommended!

Come ride at Stockton Rick, you will soon get over the fear for sharks, heaps of small/baby hammerheads. Soon as they see you they run, wouldn't be worried about them one bit.

Just amazed at the sight of a pack of sharks in the lake
Having lived on the lake all my life I have never seen a shark in the lake let alone a pack of them.
I am sure this is a once in a life time sighting and I am sure there has been no other such sighting in my time that I have heard about.

I have been to fraser and haven't seen a shark
Been to the cape and never seen a crock in the wild
BUt to see a pack of sharks in my own back yard is a rare thing to have happen

Yep thats the Town of Lake Maquarie.
Just south of Newcastle
I guess about 5 or 6 off them at about 5 or 6 foot

Here is the entrance to the lake were a few of us fequent on a run out tide and a NE breeze.

For the most part I was there for about 3 hrs all by myself yesterday arvo
nice little wave and the out going tide make for quick trips upwind and you can use a smaller kite.
A few of the local crew have seen the odd on while kiting here
