Depending on the location you are starting at, Lake Wallis from memory is a perfect spot.

Just go to the news section of Kitepower.com.au web site and they actually stopped there on their road trip.

You could speak to Steve there cos he would probably know more about it.

"Monday 10th

Still at Jimmy`s - big winds, quick session on the 14m Nemi and then moved off towards the Great Lakes. Tueasday worked our way into the lakes. Wanted to kite but couldn`t find a clearing large enough in the lakes to launch and get out. Stayed by Little lake. Wednesday got a wikid ride at The Great Lakes Sailing club on Wallis Lake. 10m Nemesis in really gusty conditions but it handled well. The 10m wasn`t too big for the big gusts and in the lulls it turns really quick to compensate for the loss of wind. Great location with thigh high water for at least 500m out and all the way round the shoreline. Going to be here for quite a few days, it`s also potentially a great place to teach. Been warned off the sea at the moment by my cousin as apparantly the bait fish are migrating which means that the sharks are just constantly swimming around chomping.

Wallis is a terrible place to kite - don't bother.

Tiona park / Green Point / or the sailing club work best in SW, N or NW conditions. There is a large expanse of shin deep water on the eastern fringe of the lake, with the rest of the lake only a couple of meters deeper. The water in the shallows is about 28C at this time of year. There are a few rays and lizards(flathead) around, but they usually get out of your way.

I went out for a couple of hours yesterday, but needed to walk out a fair way to get cleanish NNE air. It's not ideal with anything east in it.

Remember to have $7 in change for the nat park day fee. Otherwise camp/stay at Tiona park.

Self launching can be difficult as there isn't really any beach, but I've found it easier with a fifth line setup(CLS). The picturesque setting sans crowds make this a top spot.
