Thanks for those of you who answered my earlier post!!

Quick re-cap - I'm a girl coming to Perth mid March to go Kitesurfing! Have decided to stay at Lancelin. Does anyone know if there are any kite schools there, places I can leave my equipment or rent a kite if the size of mine in not right etc? And what are the water conditions, not used to kiting in waves! Is it flatish water?

Thanks!

Steph

Gday Steph. Not sure what you were told in your last thread, but lancelin is a small town.very layed back 2 pubs 2 general stores 2 petrol stations.there is no kite school(as far as i know) in lancelin, but there maybe someone up there who could teach you.It maybe a better idea doing a couple of lessons in perth before you go up there. There are heaps of kiting options in and around lancelin(waves and flat water)I`m sure you will meet someone at the backpackers or caravan park who can inform you on all the spots and where you can safely leave some gear.If you are interested in night life and heaps of partying,it`s probably not the best place to go but as far as kiting its very good.Having said that the endevour tavern on a weekend can be a good night. And you will be able to feast on really fresh crayfish and seafood.

Enjoy.

For kite lessons try one of these guys.

Hi Steph,
There is actually a kite school in Lancelin. It is run by Fiona. Not sure of her contact details, but if you give the Lano Lodge a call, they will put you onto her.
The lodge also has storage space and is only walking distance from the beach.
Thier contact details are -

Werner may be able to arrange lessons.
He runs the windsurfer hire place, and I think he has kites available too (not 100% sure though).
The lodge again should be able to give you a number.

Hey steph, ur coming at the tail end of the season and it wouldn't be uncommon for conditions to "trough out" for 3/4/5/6 days at a time leaving you stranded on the beach

In Lancelin you can only kite when it's blowing side, side-on or onshore.

March and even April can have some good offshore conditions especially early in the morning so places on the Swan River around Perth or even Rottnest really go off

Just something else for u 2 think about...

Hey. Thanks everyone for getting back to me! I really appreciate it!

Anyone thinking of coming to England to sample our icy shores??...I would be happy to show you around! Lancelin sounds like the kind of chilled out place I'm looking for...pity about the wind...will give it all some thought.

Hi Steph,

I'm not much of a kitesurfer but enjoy heaps of other water sports. Not sure about the conditions you prefer but I see quite a few kitesurfers/windsurfers in the Waikiki area (approx. 50kms south of Perth). Maybe someone can give their opinion on this location?? Plenty of sights to see too! Dolphins, penguins, seals.....beautiful!

Enjoy your holiday in lovely WA - my cousins live in UK and LOVE visiting Perth!

Hey Steph,
I'm off to pommy land come May for three months. Will be based in Brum for most of the time. Do you know of a few places... pretty much the whole way round Engalnd... where I might try.

Cheers... hope you enjoy your trip
