I watched the vid on the website and I still dont really get its full purpose. It seams like more crap you have to deal with just to get your lines out.

From my understanding it helps you launch quicker and straightens ur lines and you can do this in crowded spots, boat, beach. Im no pro but I guess this is good for very crowded places where space is an issue.

I dont really know other than this purpose that it will help many people. If you have a boat it makes sense and if your in crowded situations.

Seems like an overly complicated way of storing your lines,

and you cant self launch with it,

and

theres no difference in boat launching to blowing up kite and setting up lines on beach,

then use this thing to tidy up lines - OR wrap them back up on bar,

then on boat, chuck kite overboard and let out lines and launch kite off water.

dont see the difference really

first up, I've always wanted to be able to launch my kite off a boat, so I was keen before I even clicked the link.

But I'm a little concerned about the 25m of line I would have coiled around this contraption. If that line doesn't unfurl in the right order, it'll cause a tangle. You can see he's very careful about winding it up and then letting it out.

Sometimes ropes on a yacht can get wound over each other on a winch, and they're under so much tension that it can't be undone. Imagine having that happen to your kitelines wrapped around this thing. Argh!

Surely a product that looks as developed as this one has overcome these problems.

Wipika kites come with a little line holder that will keep your line ends untangled (simple to make if you don't have one). If you can let your lines out off your bar without letting it all drop off at once, and without looping a line around the bar, you'd have the same result.

notice this is that person's first post, it might as well be in the forsale section as it is pretty much an advertisment for their product.

yeah u can pretty much do this with just a normal bar. I saw aaron hadlow and ruben lenten do it multiply times at gravity games. Have kites on the beach and wound up bar and lines, attach pigtails and there set. But whenever i try it, it always stuffs up, must have the bar looping between the lines somehow.

Last year I spent a heep of time launching my students from boats in fiji.
when done right it is easy and safe.

the key is that the kiter goes in the water first, paddles away unwinding lines. the kite is then inflated and held ready while kiter swims into position. Checks can be made of lines then launch.

anything that involves sending kite first is just hopeful and scary.

The question I've got is why do you want to launch from a boat in the first place?
Why not drive the boat to the nearest most suitable beach and launch from that?
If there's no beach, where the hell are you........out in the middle of the ocean somewhere???
Maybe you're kiting at some secret outer reef surfbreak that's 50kms offshore. Ballsy and uncrowded.
I just can't wait to get my turbolauncher.

Hey Guys,
The reason for developing this thing was that we have no beaches and no space.
It keeps your lines organized all the time an you can control how fast the lines come off the spool. Any of you placed fishing line on a real before. Same concept. The line comes of the spool at an angle and you can control it with your hand.
On a boat, you still need to no what you are doing, But I tell you that your lines will always come of this gizmo uncrossed and untangled, all the time.
Another advantage is speed. I get very excited when the wind comes up. Now all I do is pump the kite, attach the lines and unlatch them and I'm off. I do a self launch using sand to hold the wing tip down most times and let Turbo do the rest. So its great for self launching.

I will try and get better video of it in action as soon as mother nature blows again. or maybe somebody in your area wants to test it.

Hey Goddles, I saw the vid on the net and its not very easy to see the way it works. The camera angle when he is explaining the line distribution is on the back side of it(cant see a thing). It sounds interesting still. But how much will it cost(USD,AUS??). I'll give one a try and being a noob myself if I can do it anyone can. As long as it dosent cost a kidney to buy one?

Hey Goddles,
Fortunately for us in West Oz we do have lots of beaches and loads of space. And we don't normally take the boat out when we go kitesurfing. So there might not be a great demand for this product.

But it's encouraging to see some innovative thinking happening. The 'Reel' Bar had similar concepts with line management but the ugly thing was a monstrosity.

Thanks Guys for the encouragement.

It is going to sell for $75 USD and I know you guys have great beaches but we don't, Western Canada has little access and boats are often a great help.

However, it will keep your lines managed .

I would like to send out a few of these Turbolaunchers to you guys so send me an email through the site, www.kitelauncher.com

It really is going to start a new way of thinking for us all. I hate tangled lines and I hate the idea of wasting time when I can be on the water....This will get the industry thinking.[}:)]

ok the idea is not too bad but it is again another big thingo/adulttoy to carry to the beach,
what about some sort of little thing like a retractable dog leash (or vacum cleaner electric cord) that ziiiiip back in and out.
Just 4 little ones for each line and your are done.

To pack up would also be dead easy.zouuuiiiiiiiic and the lines a rolled up.

come on inventors work a bit harder!!!

I think your product is a great idea. I have kited in many remote coral reef locations based from a yacht, where there simply are NO beaches. And THE biggest hastle is making certain the lines are ok, which usually involves a lot of swimming and drinking salt water.

So I'd definately like to test it.

As for the comment that we have lots of beaches in WA, sure, but what about launching out at the west end of Rotto? And how about the Abrolhos Is??

Because of liablity issues The Turbolauncher team will no longer promote or endorse the concept of boat launching. There are many other very useful advantages to the Turbolauncher. Please visit the website for details.
