Hey Damo
Hows it goin?
Surely you can see there is a big difference between "thrill ride" type kite lessons, and someone determined to learn? My posts had nothing to do with crying, but a lot to do with promoting the sport in a sustainable manner, and not dumping a heap of over confident or simply underprepared one lesson wonders onto our beaches!
I never had a lesson, all the early days people never had lessons, flying a power kite is not rocket science. Sure there is an instructor industry, and I run a school, but I wish I could get every potential student to buy this DVD and watch before they turn up for a lesson, and then continue to watch it after or before every practice session.
Airborne Kitesurfing is the Australian distributor for the DVD, any kite shop can order it from them and sell it, Kitepower has been selling it for a long time, we used to import it ourselves.
Have you watched the DVD, does not sound like you have?
Beyond a couple of IKO based lessons there is not a lot an instructor can do for a person wanting to learn. Its like riding a bike, you need some pointers, need to know the rules, like how the safety works, how to self rescue, after that it is simply practice and persistence.
People need a kitesurfing friend or friends more than they need any more than a couple of real in the water lessons.

is you shop one of those "good kitesurf store" where you can buy this DVD???
it might be a great DVD but no matter how good it is. its not substitute for a real lesson.
communication is a 2 way thing. so you cant "learn for free" cos you will pay the price somewhere down the line
