Hi there,

Can anybody help with the following:

Is there any school/person teaching/giving lessons at Lucky Bay? I live nearby and if possible I will like to learn there.

Any help will be appreciated.

I would love to teach from there but unfortunately the council won't let me launch my jetski there.

Why not come over to Peli Point for a few lessons to get you to a stage where you are safe enough to progress by yourself at Lucky Bay.

Cheers,

Hi there, I learnt at Lucky Bay and it is a good place to learn. Dan Anderson may teach you there as he lives a couple of streets away. His mob 0410 539 516 or contact SOS surf & sail on 9430 7050.

Hi tsunami,
The river is not really a suitable palce to learn ,as it is so gusty, and Lucky Bay has a very narrow beach with a road right next to it, making it a pretty unsafe launching spot. You are far better off getting straight on the ocean and learning in clean constant winds. We run courses in Safety Bay, and Choicy run sessions at Woodmans Point, which are by far the best locations.
30mins drive will save you heaps of hassel in the long run.

I would agree with Simon. I spent many months down at lucky bay waiting for the right wind whilst I was learning. I had a few lessons down there which were ok, but I really do wish I'd headed straight to the ocean and learnt there.

The progress I made riding on the ocean is amazing! Having a consistent wind and plenty of space makes a big difference.

Lucky bay rocks for learning its shallow so you can walk right out away from danger and practice in waist deep water with no chop.

I'm sorry i agree with dan, lucky bay is great place to learn... Yeah it is gusty but this has not stopped some of WA top riders from learning there hey dan... Just because you have a school down at Saftey Bay simon dont slag off other spots just to get business... Lucky's, Pelly's, Woodies & Saftybay are all excellent spots to learn at... Once you've had your lessons try them all... The search will get you rippin in no time...

My advice is dont pick a school because of location, pick a school because of their reputation and instructors... Choicey is one hell of a nice guy a fantastic instructor i'm told he's got all the gear there for you to use... Dan anderson has just completed a IKO instructor coarse I think and would be an excellent choice also... Ian Young would also be another excellent choice as would be Jason Lewis down at Saftey Bay... These Four guy's above have all been through the IKO schools them selve's, I'm sure you will find all their insurance levels for conducting kite lessons will be in order...

If you've never dropped your kite, your not trying hard enough !
To hear your knee go POP ruins a kite trip !
Sucide leash's and onshore conditions are a interesting combination !
