does thicker lines slow down ur kite. they would create more drag so would this slow down kite speed and efficiency. thoughts??

I been experimenting with nanotubes, you can't even see them they are that thin! Had a few snap but the kite reponds at lest .1-.2 seconds quicker, turns quicker during kite circles and gives better pop and hang time. In fact the other day when I was using them on my 5m in about 10 knots I sent this big jump, maybe I hit this gust or something, maybe I acheived perpetual motion because there was no drag from the lines but I just kept going up and up. Almost as high as the clouds I kid you not. I had a sandwich then came down about half an hour later. I landed so fast and my Mum videotaped it and using google earth I worked out that my speed was at least 56 knots on the landing but my GPS only recorded about 39 knots but I'm still going to claim it as the unofficial world record since the error on any electronic device is +/- 5% of the scale.

Can't imagine what damage you would do to the world record with those bigger fins you mention and these nanotube lines.

clangerednuts

you must be realllllllllyyyyy bored

Just check first - that your not overweight, fins are perfect thin profile, board doesnt have too much rocker or flex, kite is always fully powered up (no sheeting out), kite trimmed perfectly for all angles of attack, all lines exactly even to avoid distorting kit and minimal chop on water to reduce fwd resistance

Before you worry about line drag

P.s Go the 2 line kite bar for maximum power +++ 50% less line drag

Unless your goin for World Speed records lol

Oh and in other news, I would much rather have thicker lines as I have no interest in being anywhere near some of the "razorwire" line sets, especially in surf...
