Its getting to that time of the year in Melbourne, wind is fluky water temperature dropping and the days are short. Has anybody stayed and kited somewhere special in Fiji (or anywhere in the Pacific). I am lucky enough to have the funds for good accommodation and this makes it an easier sell to the wife.

there are so many stunning places to stay ... it took us ages to decide and find a place suitable for kiting.
make sure before booking you ask all the questions and let them know of your intentions to kitesurf... one place told me id be better off staying somewhere else as they have restrictions on their beach...
one place said that id have a 10 minute walk down the beach before it would be safe to launch
it was an absolute nightmare trying to find the right place

I hope you have a great time. Can you post a brief review of your accommodation and the location.
The idea of going to kite specific resort is tempting, just the accommodation looks a little basic and some of the other Islands looked more beautiful, but that no good if I can’t kite. Oh well, have a great holiday and hopefully you will post a few comments

Some interesting comments being made on the Safari Lodge

Yep..there are..

Here's a copy in case you missed it...

There's more than one reason the team riders were invited to leave last week....and protection of Safari Lodge property was the main priority.....

However.....since you are mentioning further INCORRECT and LIABLE statements...please note the following....

I will scan ALL my approvals and load them onto the website, and LINK them to this forum, so even the "slower" team riders amongst you can click and link to them.

Safari Lodge HAS
Special Use - Tourism APPROVAL for its property.
Building APPROVAL and Certificate of completion and RIGHT TO OCCUPY issued....
Tourist Accommodation APPROVAL for its 2 Story Villa building.....

You may find the following "extract" from a recent public document also relevant.....

"I refer to a meeting with Mr Vimal, Health Inspector from the Ra Rural Local Authority in discussing “Illegal Guest Houses” on Nananu-I-Ra and the above mentioned property - Morrisons cottages, was mentioned and discussed. This meeting was during the issuing of Safari Lodge “Certificate of Completion and Permit to Occupy”, dated 12/4/05, regarding our “Special Use Tourism” zoned Property on Nananu-I-Ra.

Mr Vimal produced a copy of the Town & Country Planning ACT, copies enclosed, and in particular referenced Provisin 9, Schedule A & B. These refer to “Permissible Development Within Zones”. You will also note the Morrison owned property is identified on the attached map as LOT 3. The Morrison property is a small 2 Rod 3 Perches in land area size. Safari Lodge is identified as LOT 6 and is 2 Acres, 0 Rods and 3 Perches.

Morrisons Property is zoned RESIDENTIAL. Under the T&CP ACT, Provision 9, Schedule B, it is clearly defined as “Residential A”, having a land area in excess of 1000m. Safari Lodge property is 2 Acres, 0 Rods & 3 Perches in size and is zoned “Special Use Tourism”.

Morrisons usage is clearly defined as NON-PERMISSIBLE development, as defined by the ACT, given both his land area and the present zoning of the land. This now precipitates why was he given a Boarding House licence?

Now...do you really want to continue bagging out LEGAL operators....

You choose....

PS
The mirrors have all been refitted, the fine furniture fitted, the new outdoor settings, the Kitesurfing shed completed, the comfy furniture and the new dining table..all now inside the villa...(at the request of the slingshot Team manager...it was NOT installed until you had all left...kept minimal damage...good idea!)
