In lead up to the next meeting scheduled for the 10th of Feb I thought it would be worth highlighting that since the introduction of a few Kiting Guidelines for Melville Beach there has not been a single incident of kite on road / on car / in tree that I know of.

Further more the 50m kite free corridor along the beach has made it safer and easier to launch and land kites.

Guidelines are below as a refresher...

i) WAKSA membership is encouraged for anyone kiting at Melville Beach due to proximity of road, houses and pedestrians.

ii) A Take-off and Landing Zone is in place which extends from the mean tide level on the beach, seaward 50m and North/South for the entire length of Melville Beach.

The 50m line will be marked at the main kite area by a small white float.

No Kiters are to sail / jump / turn / body drag inside this zone unless launching or landing.

iii) All kites are to be flown to seaward side when walking back up the beach or stationary in vicinity of beach.
