Looks great Mike - covers it all Id say.
Are we going to use this meeting to form an official 'group' - vote in office bearers - incorporation - sub-group of WAKSA? etc. etc.
Do you want to kick off at 6:00 with Space Monkeys 2 on the big screen ?
I will check with Legends tomorrow if you reckon thats a good intro move ?
And - very good point here - I vote "YES" for 6.3

What about afters - more kitesurfing or music concert DVD

I thought yak for an hour we should cover evreything by then....then from 8pm let the party begin with vidz, music, beer, and subdued light tunes......hows the CD going??
I think doing all the incorporation voting in members etc etc is probably best left for the next meeting i suppose this one will guage what people think about having a Melville Kiters club and whether its possible if there is a lack of interest.
I think this time we need to really tighten up rules and regulations, how we plan to achieve this, WAKSA memberships, and buying me guiness.

For discussion at the meeting - Not on this forum

Lucky Bay – DRAFT Rules and Guidelines For Kiting

Rules:
1. Starboard tack has right of way (right hand forward) ie Port tack alters course
2. Downwind flys kite low, Upwind flys kite high
3. Downwind kite has right of way when overtaking
4. Safety leash compulsory
5. A 30m minimum (One kite length) clear corridor from shore is to be maintained at all times unless launching or landing.
6. Kites shall not be flown over footpath or road.

Guidelines:
1. At all times exercise common sense.
2. Always ensure downwind is well clear of people and obstacles. Don't jump within 50m upwind of another water user.
3. Always ensure you have a means of getting back to shore.
4. Read the forecast and assess the weather at all times
5. Always fly within your own capabilities (equipment and experience)
6. Avoid Kitesurfing alone.
7. Avoid Kitesurfing when the wind is blowing directly onshore.
8. All parties should always take action to avoid a collision
9. Always check for other water users before water-starting or jibing
10. Never deliberately manoeuvre into a right of way position so that it interferes with another water user.
11. Fly kite on seaward side when walking back up the beach.
12. Avoid body dragging or jumping in water shallower than waste deep.

Thanks Paul,

Will print out last posts and bring them along. Looks like we have generated a fair amount of interest, hopefully the meet will be well attended.

Jan,

We plan to get something together along those lines, but first its probably best that WAKSA tell us whats possible, how we do it and whether Melville kiters want to go down that road. Would you be able to pop along for the meeting and give us a yak about Peli Point as i think our issues are pretty much the same.

would if i could but i cant :(

also, prob better for deano to do it as he's the waksa+peli man

jkeys should be able to fill in the blanks in terms of a working group though? (he'd know better than i anyway)

the long and short story for peli is that the issues are loosely the same and its an even tighter launch/landing area... and as a marine park it falls mostly under calm jurisdiction. waksa and calm are actively communicating with good results afaik.
