Hi All,

Quick one, we're moving out to Brisbane at the end of the year and I'm trying to do some research in to different areas where we can stay.

Near the coast for kiting but commutable distance to Brisbane CBD. Is there anywhere I can look for kiting beaches and where not to kite?

Any info much appreciated.

Sandgate is a really good base you can kite from the pool to Brighton, Heaps of kites all the time flat conditions most of the time, its where most people go to learn but there is plnty of room. from there you drive 20 minutes to North Queens if you are up to big chop, a tricky beach to kite you need good upwind bility, great in a SE or NE Drive 1 hour north to Colundra 1.30hr to Cotton Tree,Bribie Island another half hour to Noosa. Good crew everywhere no problem meeting people. ......See you out there

Remora,

yep main kiting areas in Brisbane are Brighton / Sandgate and Nth Queens (aka Scarborough) northside and Wellington Point southside. You can't kite Nudgee cos its too close to the airport. Other than that its Sunny coast or Gold coast.

Public transport is pretty much non existant anywhere on the (Redcliffe) Peninsula but Brighton & Sandgate not exactly luxury housing either (no offence rusty so it kind of depends what your minimum housing requirements are, what time of day you'll be commuting, and what style riding you prefer.

Welcome to the sunshine state though

Thanks guys, rusty ....... chicks and guns dude mmmmmmmm....

Seriously though, as far as housing goes as long as the wife and sprog are comfy I won't get agro I about water time. So will have a look at those areas. Does anyone commute from Gold/Sunny coast to the cbd and what's the traffic like?

I take it you drive as not much public transport?

To commute from Goldy or sunny is a real cuHnt of a thing (about hour and 30mins)

Pretty much all of Brisbane is a sh1thole when it comes to driving to the CBD from all directions.

Takes me a steady hour to drive from Redcliffe to the CBD in peak hour, but if you are traveling outside peak hour, it'll take you 35 to 40mins

But once you hit the bridge back into Redcliffe its well worth the hassle.

haha good call Paulio.

Dave I'm sure you can dig up a nice house or two in practically any suburb. I was generalising of course, but hey, at least its not Morayfield

commute from Goldie ..... dude forget it.. right comment about Redcliffe area though once you get off the bridge its worth it.
I moved here last year having lived in Sydney (Tom Uglys Point) and Adelaide ....Scarborough is nice. I drive 35 minutes to work daily. In Sydney terms that "uk all" but when i hit the bridge i leave it all behind and head straight for Queens.

G'day Guys - I'm new here to Brisbane as well and am also looking where to get amongst it all around here.
I'm looking at living in and around the Toowong, South of the city area - how far is it to Bribie, Sandgate or any areas from there? Or anywhere down south to go???????

Antz,

I've finally moved in and a bit settled now. Still haven't had a chance to kite yet. PM me when you're keen for a session! I'm living in New Farm.
