Mostly unrelated to my leaking deflate valve, I had a massive off at Botany Bay today and managed to deflate the leading edge a good distance out from the beach.

Someone grabbed my board and took it back in, leaving me to only worry about swimming my kite back in.

A moment later, a guy riding what I think was a red Slingshot Fuel came by and asked me if I wanted him to grab my kite and bring it back in.

He went down to my kite, but struggled to get it moving because it was so waterlogged.

While I swam into the beach, he must have spent the next 20 minutes trying to get my kite back in, until another champion on a blue Cabrinha perhaps came to assist him.

By then I had walked down to the next groyne, and swam out to them to retrieve my kite and survey the carnage.

This may be an everyday event (I have seen it a couple of times) but I really appreciate that fellow kiters took valuable time out of their session to help me out when the wind was cranking.

Major thanks, hopefully I can return the favour when my kiting skills improve.

And the reason it was mostly unrelated to my leaking deflate valve - as I mentioned in the other post it doesn't leak once the kite is inflated properly.

Someone was holding it for me while I pumped it up - was it was inflated I went to check it and it was fine, so I kept on rigging.

When I replay it in my head, I am pretty sure I neglected to velcro up the valve, so when I bounced it off the water there wasn't much to stop it blowing.

Live and learn - another one for the checklist.
