Gday,

Just wondering if any else has had their 2011 Ozone leash's stretch to full length and not retract again as is the case with both (2) of our 2011 kites? I say ours as I share a quiver with my mrs. She only recently started kiting and when she broke her first leash I didn't think much of it, but when the next spanking new one did the same very quickly I was very surprised. I haven't touched either leash and have been using the original 2009 Ozone leash since I started kiting.

As I say she is a beginner and attaches to the flagging line so when she has released the kite (had an issue of pulling bar to hard and unhooking early on) there is minimal tension on the leash. Nothing like the loads put on them by guys riding suicide anyway.

I was talking to a shop about it and they said in Ozones defence, this sort of thing happens to all brands (bad batch etc) and they've NEVER had a leash stretch out like that....

The shop I bought the kites off were helpful as usual but unfortunately Ozones response was that they can't help. This ****s me somewhat as its the second time their customer service has been wanting in my dealings with them. I love ozone kites but find their level of after sales service disappointing.....

I recently bought a switch nitro thinking it was worth a try and for $1500 less than ozones high AR kite, I find it unbelievable value-my point though, these guys are unbelievably good at customer service. Detailed and prompt answers to all enquiries, went out of there way in my case. Oh and the kite is awesome......

Anyway, when my main kites start falling apart, it will be a tough call which way to go......Rant over!

Matt

Hi Matt

Your initial customer service should be with your Ozone agent. If they were unable to help you in a satisfactory way, then you have the option to contact Ozone direct, either via their website, or to me you can contact me anytime steve(at)ozonekites.com.au replace at with @
We've sold hundreds to those ozone leashes and have not had "bad batch" issues. Can you send me some in focus pics of the problem. Most leashes that have elastic inside them are also easily fixed, you can melt a hole in the webbing close to the end where the bungee has broken off inside the hollow webbing. Fish out the elastic and tie it off around the webbing, job done.

Thanks Steve,

I did contact my agent, they did their part. They offered to replace my broken leashes with there own stock as ozone were unable or unwilling to see this as any fault of theirs. That didn't sound fair to me. I will send you some photos though I'm unsure what you'll be able to tell from them? They simply have no elastic left in them.

Eppo, not changing my kite.....not sure what you mean.

Eppo-The nitro was an addition to the quiver, not a replacement :-)

Breakzmaker-The nitro has had some proper reviews in the review section which I should add to but one I'm lazy and two, I have only had 4 relatively short sessions on it. It is very different to the ozone's, but comparing the catalyst to the nitro, it should be-the method would be more like what I'm used to but I wanted to try something different ie boosty and fast and so far, it is very good at both of these. I'd suggest chasing down a demo from a team rider near you...

I've been pmed an offer of replacement for the leashes so that solves that one-cheers
