Don't hear much about them any more.
I picked up an Underground Firebird this season and I dig it!
but what do you nutcases reckon,
best of both worlds?
worst of both worlds?
like a proper directional with trainer wheels?
I love the powered up wave riding, still being able to boost, and being able to ride backwards is pretty sweet especially in messy surf.

Best of both worlds!!! I've got a Jimmy Lewis Rad-F it's so good hey, it go's up wind better then any twin-tip I've owned and you can smash the waves without it sliding out.People just don't think they are cool? Thats till they ride a good one!!!

To add more to that, I still have a twin-tip for flat water.

Hey I still ride a Naish 5'8 sky pirate toeside and love it for light days and wave riding. Its all personal preferance, what works for you dosen't work for the other person. So right on I think enjoy it .

Hey Tobes,

Why do you need to have the approval of others to enjoy what you ride. You are saying you enjoy it, who gives a toss what others think.

I remember a guy named "Buzzy", some of you might know him, I met him at the Woolgoolga winter comp in 2000. He was riding an old yellowing poly surfboard full of dings and many repairs. He had the oldest patchwork Wipika Classic kite you ever saw, full of repairs and looking like sh1t. Buzzy would go out and rip it up in the surf all those years ago to no accolades, doing his own thing, on old gear and never sought the approval of others. He was a bit of a loner, or perhaps just one of the original soul kiters.

He has provided me with inspiration for many years now, don't know if he still rides or what happened to him, but much respect Buzzy, if you're reading this .

Ride on, the soul kiter! Ride what makes you smile!

Good winds,

Totally. I just wanted to share some Mutant stoke.
Agreed, goes upwind like crazy and great in chop. Taught me a lot about riding a strapped surfboard.
