I woke up this morning pretty excited about going kiting for the first time with my gear (i've already had lessons). The wind was blowing a nice 15 - 20 knots and the weather was 26 and sunny. I was heading up to inverloch, which is 2 hours from me, because its a shallow inlet and a great place to learn.

2 hours later i arrive at the beach, winds great, suns shining and there are a few kiters around, looks like its going to be a great day. I get my gear out ready for fun and lay the kite out and grab the pump. Pump up the struts nicely and then the leading edge, almost finished the edge and BAM it blows. Now not a nice little blow a big blow that also rips the leading edge at a seam.

Great, there goes 4 hours driving and the perfect day to practise my skills.

So anyway, does anyone know a good place in melbourne to get kite repairs and would anyone have an idea of the price of repairs. Blew out the leading edge on naish x2 12m and also ripped along a seam on the LE. Very sad.

One of my mates blew the centre strut of his 4 year old kite while inflating it on the weekend. Apparently it developed a weak bladder in its old age.

Well, to get all strut bladders (5) replaced: $220

to get the centre strut replaced est $70.00...

sorry - dunno about LE bladder.

i too was very sad when the bladder bust as i drove for an hour to get to a nice spot - but am happier now that the material around the bladder didnt split also.

heres to days when all goes well...

x2 12 as your first kite ? Who sold you that ?!! Not really the right choice as a first kite. She will fly backwards on you until you master trim - its a great performance kite however - jut be ready to be spanked while you are learning with it.

It is VERY difficult to blow a seam on the leading edge - was the kite new or used (i suspect the latter and that there was a hole in the seam already)

Good luck getting her back in the sky !
