Our next meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday 15th November 2006 at 7.30pm sharp at St Georges River Sailing 16 foot Club (Same venue as before).

Calling for nominations (ie team players) - office holders , volunteers , people with skills & time that can be utilised when dealing with both the public & private sectors over the year to implement strategies for safer kiting & intergration within the general community :

Spread the word, see you Wednesday.

Happy sailing :)

Cliff, Now that the club is expanding to the Sutherland shire, I would like to put forward a suggestion that the Kite Club consider becoming a sub club of another established commercial club, like Cronulla RSL.

There is considerable upside to this, Cronulla RSL financially supports their sub clubs and provides their facilities for free, meeting rooms etc. Also the kite club may be able to leverage their insurances and their good will with the local councils. I belong to a sub club of Cronulla RSL and we use our financial incentives to provide things like free drinks for members when they attend meetings, but there is probably no reason why this money couldnt be used to subsidise insurance for kite members.

The down side is that the kite club would not be strictly independant, it would be a sub club of Cronulla RSL. However the financial benefits and support would easily outweigh this and there would also be another benefit of having a recognisable name tagged to the new clubs name, especially if the kite club has to deal formally with councils.

If it is felt that Cronulla RSL is too far away then perhaps Brighton RSL, has the same deal with their sub clubs, perhaps Georges River does too. When I sailed there George River provided financial incentives to the sailors via prise money for races and attendance. Bringing a potention 100 new members to a local club would be an attractive proposition.

I think this is worth some discussion at the next meeting

Hi Everyone,

I won't be able to make this meeting as I'm working nights for another week. If you could copy me in on the minutes that would be great.

Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion. By all means come along Wednesday as I welcome an open discussion on this matter. Cheers Cliff
