On the form it says that my membership will expire 30 Sep each year - so does that mean if you sign up now you don't get a full 12 months for your $60 ?

no smart answers please [}:)]

I dont work for AKSA or NSWKBA, but my understanding is Yes, the insurance has a fixed 'anniversary date'. I assume this is because it is one policy, that can take on new members, rather than individual policies for each member who joins.

Better off being covered, regardless of the additional few $. All you need is for your kite to hit a car, or damage powerlines, signs, anything over the value of $60 to make it worth buying now, let alone hitting someone which could cost millions...

Just came back from overseas where I was a ski instructor, and we had to have $100mil coverage under the concept if you 'took out' some bigwig boss of a company, their family and company could sue you big time....

Email the www.nswkba.com.au team, and I'm sure they will have an official answer.

This is the case for KBV and all the state associations are under the same policy.

Dread Zep is correct about the membership fee covering the period of the insurance policy.
NSWKBA is a volunteer organisation and it is difficult enough to find people willing to give their time to administer the large member database and keep up to date with the membership renewals. Our secretary does a great job, and has allowed us to get lots of things happening over the last year.

The moral of the story is join up in Oct at the start of the season and enjoy a full year of benefits.

As of today, signing up for a NSWKBA membership will constitute to a loss of 4.4 beers at the pub in value.

IMO, everyone should just get it and support the NSWKBA's efforts.
