JL,
The New Thorn is insane. It has a vertically laminated poplar wood core (same as in a performance snowboard), with a carbon stringer slightly biased to the heel side and carbon x torsion stips running from tip to tip. Has a really live feel, delivers heaps of pop. You should give Andy a call, he has been riding one for a little while now, and loves it!
All the Naish Twin Tips this year have a poplar wood core, and it has proven to be by far the most durable board construction ever, plus the benefit of riding with a core that has pop properties. Foam cores are dull and lifeless, and rely on the laminates to give the board life and pop, a poplar wood core has all the life and pop properties, so it only takes minimal laminates to control and direct the stiffness, every part of the board is producing performance, where as foam is lifeless and just really there to separate the laminates.
Looking like a great year for Naish this year!
