My Naish bar basically just self destructed (use probably only 20 -25 sessions - back up bar). I just bought a new centre rope as it was just about warn through. Was giving it its final run when I heard a snap. Looked up, rope was ok. Looked down, chicken loop was gone! (normally always ride suicide, but didnt this time as it was gusting to 34 knots). Chicken loop is gone! What you want in 34 knots!

Upon opening the quick release I found the pin holding the chicken loop was obviously gone, the other holding the rope was rusted and ready to die. Naish quality?

So, anyone know where to get a decent price replacement chicken loop? Obviously doesnt need to be Naish, but since I have a new depower rope, might as well be, with non Naish replacement pins/ screws as well.

I've had my Naish Bar since 09 used over 100 times NO PROBLEM got the new 2010 bar too; again no dramas.

I always wash them in fresh water after a session and leave out to dry

Well you need to take care to check if the pin is tighten, otherwise like any screw it can come loose. Just use Lock tight for that. But that it is rusty that's a bit weird ....

Its an 08 bar, always soaked then rinsed in fresh water, always allowed 2-3 days to dry before packing away, used intermittently since 09. Anyway, the talk about the poor grade steel pins in the 08 bar have been thrashed to death. I remember reading somewhere that Naish were offering free replacements a while back, so I should have looked at it then.
Just thought I'd ask if anyones got a spare lying around or knew where to find a replacement chicken loop / complete quick releases at a good price.

If there is a fresh water supply near your spot then rinsing bar and lines and harness is always good practise. Get involved

Sadly, mine gets rinsed under a shower, then thrown in a bucket at home, then left to dry..didn't save the smart loop. Lines look like new though :(
New bar coming soon anyway

That's a reasonable argument with a kite, as they often get packed down wet, and can't air properly, therefore mould develops.

You can rinse your bar and lines and sit it behind the laundry tub on the taps - it will dry out pretty quickly, gets the sand off the lines and out of the wearing parts, plus the Naish chicken loop release is all stainless and springs these days - needs to be kept free of sand and salt. It will still corrode even if it is stainless.

Just wanted to say thanks to the guys at Windgenuity. Not only did they send me the replacement pins (as it is a recognised fault), but they also sent me a replacement chicken loop and bungee! (totally free sent express).
Cheers Guys

Salt crystalises in the lines and causes excess wear. Fuzzy and hairy lines? Likely caused by salt and sand in your lines.
