We now have confirmed prizes in the form of gift vouchers from the following kite shops:

Kitepower
Balmoral Boards
Windsurf n Snow

Also Windsurf n Snow are going to bring along their Stand up Paddling surf boards for demos if the wind is light and the surf small.

If the wind is light the beach volleyball net will be in up!

Boosta where have you been , I hope you can live up to those big statements you made as we need a kiter of your abilities when Sth meet Nth, which side are you on, I guess your the fastest kiter as well.

Yes Dancer, the boost will be there to put an end to innuendo going around, the king of the bay will be asked to step down.
Nth or Sth? i am undecided. Perhaps i'll support the underdog team on the day.Or maybe just me the best V the rest. How about you

Just a reminder everyone!!! this event is still happening and I'm reckoning that all them southerners will all by *****s and bail!!!

forcast isn't looking too good, but what the hell, there is free BBQ and the prises will still go out (and we're talking $$$$$$ people!!)

just incase, there will be a heap of no-wind fun stuff to get into to win the prises too, time to get out the stuffy city on a sunday and visit a real beach guys!

(also anyone else from anywhere else is welcome. haha)

Please remember that there is a whole bunch of people giving up there time so that YOU guys can come and have some fun and win some dosh and eat some free food so please come along and enjoy the day.

I reckon we could get some wind for the kite slalom, it might require looping the kite and riding a surfboard, but so be it! Sydney wind has been so hard to read this year, we could get a strong southerly following the westerlies like last weekend!

The BBQ will be cooking up a feed for everyone, so come along and meet the Northern Beaches crowd. NSWKBA and the local shops are supporting kiters, so make the most of it.

If the wind doesn't blow we will still have the beach volleyball court setup and have some fun races:

-Team Mal racing
-Air Mattress racing

If anyone has other no wind ideas (clean please) let me know.
Cheers

ive always wanted to get an old bungy rope from NZ or somewhere and attach it to some sand bags, then run up the beach and get like a 50m ride to hit the shorey...

dunno where to get a bungy rope though, im guessing that they are destroyed when they wear out as to prevent black market sales...

After we had been preparing for a beach volleyball tournament the wind actually appeared on Sunday for the event, as did about 50 kiters. It was a beautiful day at the beach enjoyed by all, really good atmosphere and lots of new faces.

We had over 35 contestants chomping at the bit to attack the slalom course when the wind backed off and turned more onshore. This required a change to the course to a down the surf break around one buoy and back into the beach type arrangement.

Thanks to everyone who came along, and who volunteered their time to help run the event and the BBQ. Also thanks to the shops for donating the prizes (about half the field went home with a prize, ranging from $100 vouchers to t-shirts).

The results are a bit biased towards the dirty southerns:

Fastest Overall - Rich Stenning - 1:12 (He is a freak so gets his own category)
Fastest Woman - Marine Sudre - 1:33
Fastest Man - Steve McCormack - 1:26
Slowest Overall - Thomas "I'm from Norway" - ????
Most improved time - Robin Barnes
Best Jump - Jon Turner
Best dismount - Col Packer - somersault onto sand with butt

I'll try to get all the times up on the nswkba site over teh next few days so people can see how they went.

THe northern beaches crew were very impressed with the effort and committment of the southerners crossing the bridge for the day, and we are looking forward to heading South to the cesspool you call home for the return event.

Cheers

Thanks Gav for a great day, and for adding further evidence to my suspicion that Rich Stenning is not a man, he is just a fast overall Alien. Thanks too for confirming to everyone here that I am a man.

Also us Southeners are not dirty, we are tanned and fit because we are all out kiting more than anyone else in Sydney, unlike all you pale and scrawny Northeners.

I knew it was dirty but hey thats pretty bad.
You can sure smell the difference when you kite somewhere clean, you have that clean fresh sea salty smell where as in the Bay you smell like a chemical factory when you get out.

Ah well , during the week its convient, weekends there are plenty of better places to kite within a two hour drive Nth or Sth.
Lets hope they clean it up.

Yeah that article is harsh, but the pic shows all the new beaches we have between the groins.
The tan is definitely from the sun, Danza you must be kiting near the drains after it rains?
The water quality is good, because it never rains, now that the end of the world is around the corner, and as I've said before it just gets windier and windier (except on the pale, sandfly infested) Northern Beaches, so lets all go out in style - kiting!.

PS That article was a political beat up around the last council elections and around the announcement of the Port expansion plans.
Fairly soon they are going to start on the desal water tunnel, that should create large flat areas behind the booms.

this paragraph says a lot about modern day.

"No one suggests it is realistic to turn back the clock on a working harbour that provides tens of thousands of jobs, generates annual production worth about $30 billion and, of course, supplies many of the products - "conveniences", as Cook described them - demanded by modern Australians."

Maybe it should be re-titled "Show me the Money". Sounds like a protest of sorts is required.

Great comp idea though, wonder if we can get the same thing over here? It'll take a little longer to organise though and we may have to Wait Awhile.
