Officially,
National Titles are in Geraldton Week before Australia Day. Official word recieved from the President of WAKSA Friday 25th June.
Look forward to seeing all the regulars up here, If you are keen to be involved in some capacity then e-mail me. I will be only too happy to organise free accomodation for event volunteers.
The Geraldton event committee will be working very closely with the WAKSA committee, so any suggestions that you would like to see please submit to the WAKSA strand on this forum. All suggestions will be recieved through WAKSA only.
Event will be at Pt Moore, will consist of a Double Elimination as seen at the Sydney Nationals. Will most probably include a race (same course as Gero Blast) but not confirmed. Will probably also include wave riding as well. National Champion will be picked over all three divisions.
Also we would like a teams event. State V's State, not just an individual thing. This last point is open for discussion, but submit your ideas to WAKSA please.

Geraldton is 4 hours north of Perth , Point Moore is a protected (by reef) flat water bay at the end of the point (picks up all wind) .
On the outside there are waves on the north and south side of a passage called " Hells Gates"
To the south along the beach there are beachbreaks that are a lot smaller and more forgiving .
On the inside of the bay it is butter with a small wave (kicker) just rolling through one section when there is swell.
There is a large carpark and a grass area to set up on .
There used to be a photo of it in the old freesail mags , sailwest add I think ?
Gavin and the GWC have proven to be able to organise an event extremely well and thier saftey is second to none .
After dropping my kite out at Hells gates and swimming around in among the reef trying to figure out how I was going to get out of there without tears , I looked up to see a rescue dingy whose crew grabbed my kite first and then me and dropped me on the beach . This despite the Gero Blast not having a wave section and was only out there free sailing between heats .
I have only kited there once (for Gero Blast) but feel that a lot of the problems of the past nats will not be an issue up there .
It is a bit of a hike up there but I think well worth the effort .

Good on you Gav,
I know you'll do us proud. I always thought Gero will be the business. Real wind for the Nats...sweet! I would like to offer my support and assistance in putting it together in what limited means I have to offer.
