Hi all,
I gotta big problem trying to find an ideal location for a Kite/Surfing trip sometime in late January next year.

Whats so hard about it is that it has to suit everyone thats going.
(Surfers, kite surfers, and a couple of windsurfers).
Part of us wants yallingup, the rest-Lancelin

So if anyone knows were there is good waves and excellent wind
Please give us a post.
thanks

Yallingup/ Margs is great for advanced kite surfer & windsurfer wave riding - make sure you follow tribal rules - otherwise expect it to get ugly - the three sports don't coexist there as friendly as in some other places.

Lancelin has more options with more flat water and waves are still good value but usually not as big - In late Jan you're unlikely to get BIG waves in either loc anyway. Lancelin is more likley to have stronger more reliable winds but is still good for a surf in the mornings - it's also worth hiring a boat to get to the better uncrowded breaks - unless you don't mind a long paddle :-)

Gero's another option to consider with great conditions and you'll probably be there to catch the action and parties of the Australian Kite Surfing Championships 25-30 Jan!

Yallingup is not the best spot in summer for kiting, dont get me wrong I've been going there for years surfing and most recently kiting. The wind's to fickle, bay's around the surrounding areas face in wrong directions. If I had it my way I would go to Lancelin any day of the week for a trip like that. Ian's right, heaps more option at Lano's.

pain is temporary, glory is for ever !

Yeah, Yallingups a bit tricky. Hard launch for windsurfing, especially when there are decent sized waves out the back. Fickle winds inshore for a kite launch, and not windy all that often. Good surf but!
