New laws in SA will see all water users required to wear a pfd3 when using any personal water craft- surfers, windsurfers, kiters and kayakers will all be affected.

The time is now to make a stand and do something about it !!!!!!

This is a ridiculous law- people need to be responsible for their own safety and before this legislation we have all been able to look after ourselves. Make some noise and let's get this changed.

If SA let's it happen the chances are other states will follow their lead......

Lol.. Surfers too? That's pretty funny, but yet totally outrageous. If anything the people without a water craft should be the ones in the vests.

As I've posted in Unite's other posts

Please post the extract of the law change.

This way we can all see what you are on about so we can avoid jumping up and down unnecessarily

A quick search found the same hyped up grief on a kayaking forum

This appears to apply to the water bogans on their jetski's

www.akff.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=31939&start=0

Please find the actual gov web page

www.transport.sa.gov.au/safety/marine/marine_equipment/index.asp

Please Note The Exemptions list

Exemptions

The safety equipment requirements apply to the majority of boats. However, certain types of boat are either partially or totally exempt from these requirements. Some of the more common exemptions are summarised below.

Canoes, kayaks, sailboards, kiteboards and similar small, unpowered boats must have for each occupant

* a PFD that complies with the appropriate Standards and is worn at all times
* suitable bailer (unless the hull is permanently enclosed)
* waterproof torch or lantern while being operated during the hours of darkness.

Get over it .I wear a PFD 3 when kiteing .I initially wore it becasuse it keeps me warm but there are other advantages like when I got dumped in a wave the other day and not only when I smashed into my board it didn't hurt ,i popped up a bit earlier than I probably would have

well done floaty, good for you- I prefer to live my life in a more extreme manner- I cross the road without looking, slide down rails instead of using the stairs and tell the missus that her sister did it better......

what happened to personal choice ?

i fail to see how you got the impression that i wear a wetsuit. if you would rather see me in pictures with just a body tight article i'm sorry but you appear to be way too protective of your anonymity for me to not be suss about ya.

(i am wearing a long sleeve radiator for sun protection, what are you wearing big boy?)

I have just bought a PFD 3 for wakeboarding. I have tried it on with my seat harness. You feel like the michellen man, all tied up, with no manouverability. When buying the PFD, i was told that waist harnesses interfer with the PFD3. Could someone give me a good waist harness that can be used with a PFD. As i said not a problem with the seat harness, though i would like to start riding blind, and find the seat harness too restrictive.

Any thoughts are appreciated.
