it appears on average we get about 10-15knots perhaps a little bit more.

so 10m or 12m..

you need a syndey rider to tell you, but if you get 10-15kn amd plan on kiting mostly in this wind range on average I'd be going 14m (maybe even larger).

If you expect to ride it in wind say 18knots up then go the 12, if you expect to ride it more like 12-20 then go a 14. This also depends on what size board you have. Work out what wind you'll actually be flying it, personally I want bother in much less than 15 knots... unless I'm desperate.

But find an experienced Sydney kiter to ask...

mashrock,

if you like it go it - try to test out as many as you can

ignore the cr@p on the forums

(I'm not a Liquid Force fan by any means, but just go with what works for you)

I think toby is just bored

All good! i'm just getting what seems like a pretty good deal on starting up in the sport. spending around 1600 on a new kite, demo lines, bar, board, harness etc.

and from what i've been reading the liquid force range seems to be rather safe to use and safe for learning on also. and also good when i can actually ride properly :)

thanks for the replys anyway! all is helpful!

Hi Mashrock, 'smee again.
The advice i was given was go for a 12m and that can be your midrange kite if you decide to expand your quiver later. Your about the same height and weight as me and i've been having a great time with my Ozone Instinct 11m in Melbourne's winds.

Once you've finally chosen the kite of your dreams then you get to move on to all the other fun questions like 'which board' and 'which harness'? In anticipation of those i'd say a 138x39 Cardboard with the sexiest design of your fancy, and a Mystic Warrior waist harness.

MOAR action over on this forum took me a little bit to find

the advice gathering has almost come to a stop. i'm about ready to hand over the money!

that bit of cardboard sounds great! i think you should start marketing them sooon they will take off!!

I have a 10 and am about the same size as you describe, i would go a 12 in hind sight and get an el-cheapo small kite to go with it.
