Hi. I'm looking to buy my first setup. There's a guy around the corner selling a 7ym and 11m 05 slingshot fuel in great condition. Are they any good? I've only used the cabrinha switchblade 6m and 8m when doing the kiting course.
Any help appreciated. Obviously I will need some good depower and a kire that's easy to relaunch from the water.
I learn't on 06 fuels.... it aint that hard... u just gota be prepared to get drilled
Come on thats a stupid answer mate, The question is are they any good for learning on? and in respect to what is available now as apposed to what was available then there is no competition a new bow kite like a Rev or similar would sh1t all over a Fuel for a learner and his her progression.

just have a look at all the different kite brands website's they usually direct you to the entry/learning kites. (I can guarantee you SS fuels wont be mentioned )
My first kite was an 05 11m Fuel. Seriously, i wish i had started with a Hybrid, SLE, bow. They have such better depower, water/self launch capabilities, especially compared to an old C kite. I can guarantee you'll have heaps more fun with a SLE, bow, hybrid
I took your advice (thanks all) and got a switchblade IDS 10m yesterday. Got to set it up today and try it out hopefully this week. Offshore today so no good, plus it's stinking hot.
Guys, I just laid out the lines and checked for length, all looks good but in order to get the lines all taut I have the control bar pulled all the way back. Is that ok? Also with the trim controls is it better to install the override IDS thing on the main line? When trimming, pulling one of the balls shortened one of the trim straps and that stayed put but pulling the other ball seemed to shorten another strap which didnt stay put after releasing the ball. Is this normal?
hey bud just had a look on the buy and sell, seen a 9m ozone light (07) which would be perfect for learning and better depower. it is complete for $600 just a thought ps it is not my ad

I was just setting up the IDS override thing on the main line, pulled back the dongle with the two trim straps and clicked it into place but it doesnät seem to disengage at all, the little plastic sleeve that clips onto the plastic main line just slides around (slowly) . I had the little hold pointed toward the bar, not the kite. What gives. Isnät it supped to disengage and let the dongle slide all the way up the line when you push the bar away from you hard ?
Questions about the IDS: Pulling the lines taught to check they are all even the trim strap should be at fully powered setting and the bar pulled all the way down to the chicken loop. If it's a new kite then line lengths should be fine straight out of the bag. Cabrinha do some decent checks before sending kites out. For the trim strap when fully depowered you will see a small loop in the trim strap material. When powering up on the black bobble it will make a loop at first and then open out when you release the bobble. It's normally quite hard to power up the trim strap without the kite in the air or some decent tension on the frontlines. With the lockin pushout clip thingy there is some grey tape in the bag that you need to put on the depower/chickenloop line just above the ring. this stops the little lockin ring that the clip sits in from sliding up. Just make sure you put the ring at the right spot before you add the tape. should be just above half way. The amount of force you need to push the clip out is set by the little ringlock clamp. more clamped is harder to push out.
