I feel like I have joined a secret fraternity or something, kinda cool.
Anyway, bought a kite a few weeks back but havnt flown it due no one wanting to give lessons. Was wondering if there was a web page which posted local kitesurfing rules. Like in surfing: snaking, dropping in and so fowarth.
Also what wind is too strong? and what wind is too weak? I have a 11.5m kite and weight around 85kgs.
Oh and if anyone wants to give a lesson, I would be very greatful, these hawaiian dudes make it look too damn easy!
Chears to you all

Where are you, Perth? If so most of the schools are closed for the winter, and you would be pretty fool hardy to try and teach yourself in these fronts.
Wait for september and get lessons then when the seabreezes come in.

Is there any where for lessons over there. I'm comming over there in a week and a bit for work and was wondering if i will get out on the water. I have had a few lessons already and body draging but havent been out because no wind over here. I want to learn to get on my board before summer gets here. I didnt start till late in the summer season and i'm really itching to get out again.

hey sinbad, join the club.
I've never been out. I only have dvd's which i watch, and thats like pulling teeth, (or something else) without the required result!
I have had no luck in finding a teacher, many have gone to NZ, Cocos Island or surfing.
If you happen to find someone I'd love the number of the guy/gal!

There is a very good reason why you won't find any coaches operating here in Perth at this time of year, it is just too frontal to make it safe for newbies. Wait till September.
If you do book an instructor, make sure they are fully accredited, and have public liability insurance .

Thanks simon, it's a bit like that here in Adelaide, its either 10knots or 30+ knots.
By the looks of the weather you get the full brunt of the fronts.
Have to do a trip to Qld i think after perth.
Serengeti, good luck trying to get out but after reading about that guy, that got lofted over there last week you might be much safer watching the DVD's. That way the only way you might get hurt is neck and back strain is from not moving from the chair.
I hope the guy is getting much better all the best on a quick recovery.
Will probably see you all on the beach watching the ultra kean's
