Hi All, Recently move to Torquay in VIC (From WA) Been windsurfing for many a year. Just recently had a couple of lessons with the Kite. As always I am reasonably confident. Looking for advice on the ideal quiver for this area?

I weigh about 71Kgs.
I can get out of the water most days of the week.
Money is ok. Rather spend the extra and get better gear. But should I go 2nd hand?

Thanks.

There are plenty of local kiters at Pt Danger in southerlies and Pt Henry in northerlies. You local kite shops are Kitepower and KiteRite in Geelong. Just rock up to the local spot, introduce yourself, ask questions and most important of all BE A GOOD LISTENER.

The locals are on the whole a very friendly helpful bunch...you may get a few skewed opinions as some of the locals will have second hand gear to shift - but every opinion is biased anyway depending on weight, preferred riding style, board size etc etc

The locals have started riding a lot of Crossbows after many years on "C" kites. There is even the odd Arc style kite around.

Drop in to see Goshen at Kitepower 386 Latrobe Terrace Geelong (the main rd, opposite Geelong footy ground).
He is a similar weight and has 15 years experience in power kiting. Kitepower stock Cabrinha, Airush, Slingy, Naish, North, Flexi, Peter Lynn, Underground, Addiction, Ozone, MBS, etc, etc.
There is a huge range of used gear and a large list in the used gear listings on the www.kitepower.com.au website.
Something like an 06 Cab CO2, with 5 line bar and punch out safety for $1399, would be a good kite and size for that area. Geelong and Torquay gets wind from 10 to 30+ knots, if you get the bug you will need more than one kite.
Goshen has some great deals on last years kites too, no need to buy used.

Cya and

Goodwinds
