Helloooo,

Does anyone ride Stockton in a NE? Whats it like? where is the best spot? Any flat water? Waves?

Come on Hammerhead tell me all about it.

Does anyone else have an awesome spot for a NE with loads of space?

Redhead? Blacky?

Stockton has got it all, just depends on where you want to ride.

In a NE.

Up near the Break wall it’s flattish, with the wind being cross on going out on a starboard tack.

Just north of the flags the waves are a little bigger but the wind here is generally on shore, best time to ride here is on a low tide.

The north side of the rock wall (near the Pre School), it starts getting cross on going out on a port tack. The shore break here can be a pain for getting away and this is where the surfers hang out, as the waves here are at there biggest for the beach.

Any further north and it’s cross shore, but it’s a walk to get up there or takes time ride upwind there, this is where the fishermen hang out, but if you go further north than rifle range, it’s all to your self and it’s my favourite part of the beach if I can get there.

If you are going to transit behind the flags make sure you’re at least 100m out, (or kite at least behind the break zone). The Life Guards here are fairly cool with us, as long as with give the swim zone a wide berth, and no doing tricks, jumping behind the flags no matter how far you’re out.

The water can get a little dirty from the run off from the Hunter River, practically after heavy rain.

You can park right next to the beach at the pines; it has grass area to set up on and showers. The Café is nearby as well as the bowling club.

How's the bindi's over there now browny.
Down at blacky's you will need thongs by now.

Hey Missy
Is it getting a bit crowded over at Nobby's.

Down at blacksmiths is OK in a NE,
We usually ride between the flags and the breakwall.
Does get a bit crowded if to many kites (more than about 3)
At this time of year the little nippers will be starting their training and are often there a couple of afternoons till about 6pm and the surf club also has carnivals on some weekends, which means you need to go along the beach further, but there is still car parks along the beach for a k or so.

Then there is the swansea channel which on a good day is great, as you can rip upwind with the tide going out & there can be some good little waves, when it is not so great and the wind drops off all of a sudden your kite may fall out of the sky and you are heading on a holliday to NZ with a big floaty. To get here we launch from blacky's & sail around the end of the breakwall or if the wind is a bit lite and you are lazy climb over the wall and jump in

There are more kites these days at Nobby's than flies at a butchers picnic.Plus you have the pole boarders .

What I'm was thinking of doing was trying to have a social (welcome back the seabreeze) day, like last year.

I wanted to avoid Nobby's because it doesn't need any more attention drawn to it.

Maybe Stockton is our best option? Sharks and all??
