Has anyone done it? Love to hear any stories. A couple of mates and I once climbed up Hotham sumit at night years ago and boarded down to the bright lights of the village. Wikid fun! Not kite related but closest story I have to some night action... and I'm bored and miss the alps.

I want to do it someday. Would be good fun. Maybe this summer. You would have to go with a couple of people though. Don't want to go drifting alone.
The one thing I'd be bothered with is sharks. I know its lame and pathetic, but you won't even see it coming.
The river would probably be safer, because when the seabreeze turns off at night and goes to easterly. You won't be screwed as you would in the ocean.

I have heard stories told in whispers by dubious strangers in dark, dingy taverns. They say there is a secret beige society of night kiters who meet when the wind is strong, the moon is full and the werewolves are scared to come near. They perform strange rituals to the wind gods which include much dark magic and gnashing of teeth. It wouldn't be the sharks I'd be worried about...

Could you tell us some. Sorry about double post computer on the fritz.
Hahah they fell for it, my computer is fine. Could this secret society be on a meet tonight. The forums are quiet, the wind is high, and the moon is glowing strong. Is this dark magic learnable?

Omg, I'm typing in beige, maybe I'm party of the society and I don't even know it, is it that secret?

Was out on an awesome session at woodies about 2 years ago and the sun went down but it was a full moon, so I stayed out kiting for about an hour and a half with only myself and two windsurfers out. It was awesome, but the fear of the old noahs was what brought me in in the end, seeing as this is the time they feed. Haven't heard of a kiter being taken by a shark, but didn't want to be the first.

yeah put the glow sticks on the board!

i am thinking about sticking some on the kite as well,
one on the leading edge and the left and right with (green and red) so relaunching is much better at night.

SHARKS DO NOT FEED IN THE DARK. They aren't night hunters, hence why when you go night diving you see all the fish out of their hiding holes. Apparently it has something to do with there eyes.

best night kiting ever for me was in Shark Bay by myself. Had a six pack and a scoob sitting on the beach of which I'd indulge every half hour and get back out there.
One night I had phosphoresence cranking outa the back of my board while doing huge carves in the bay. Every turn would light up and just make you go for more.
Pure Gold.
Best on the low tide with 20 kts se for silky smooth water.
